Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj is the fifth spirutual successor of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and the present leader of Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha. Representing the essence of Hindu Dharma, his compassion for humanity, universal wisdom and striking simplicity have touched many world religious and national leaders.
But most important is his quiet, undisturbed love for God which rise beyond all borders of nation, race and religion. The genesis of Akshardham lies in the wish expressed by Brahmswarup Yogiji Maharaj in 1968 that 'a mandir be built on the banks of the Yamuna. His wish was fulfilled through the efforts and divine blessings of his successor and the present 83-year old spiritual master of Bochasanwasi Shi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan(BAPS), HDH Pramukh 'swami Maharaj.
